Dr. P.K.S. Madhavan, the visionary behind AWARE, has dedicated his life to uplifting tribals, harijans, and the underprivileged. He remains unmarried, fully committed to his mission. He is the son of Sri Konghot Karunakaran and Smt Parichpulli Kamakshmma from the Puthucode Royal Family.
Dr. Madhavan pursued a post graduate degree in Anthropology and briefly served in the civil services for over four years before resigning. Seeking a deeper purpose, he embraced the life of a Hindu monk, spending four years in the Himalayan Mountains, practicing meditation, and studying ancient scriptures. In 1974, he returned home at his mother's insistence and embarked on a teaching career, eventually earning a doctorate in anthropology.
